Sun Prairie Historical Society

The Sun Prairie Historical Society was re-established in April 1996 and our purpose is to support the collection, preservation and interpretation of the history of Sun Prairie and the surrounding areas. Support is derived in the form of financial (through fund-raising efforts) and volunteer services (event staffing and speakers' bureau). The society is affiliated with the State Historical Society of Wisconsin and is tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.

Georgia O'Keeffe

Sun Prairie was Georgia O'Keeffe's hometown and her family lived south of the village on what is today County Highway T. There is an historic marker located at 300 E. Main St. We are dedicated to provide information about the O'Keeffe Family. Our President, Joe Chase has a library of over 200 books and magazines dedicated to Georgia O'Keeffe ...her art, her family, her homes and her adventures. Joe also offers a 45 minute or a 4 hour tour that highlights Georgia's time in the Sun Prairie area. Contact us for more information at info@sunprairiehistoricalsociety.org
